Checking out London Pride this month I knew I would find a lot of colourful imagery (in so many ways!), costumes and people that WANTED to have their photos taken!
The weather forecast this year looked like it was going to be a glorious day for it, and I wasn't proved wrong. There were some 'interesting' people shouting religious quotations about judgements against all of the parade participants and the audience. This was an interesting display of democracy and how everyone has the right to speak. Whether what they are saying is offensive is another matter! This was the message behind this year's theme: #NoFilter. Like the hashtag that so many people use on Instagram when their image is unchanged and unadjusted with no reason to try to impress the audience. What is there is already everything they want to say.
I decided to try and get into the main road and get into the parade this time. It was so busy so in a way it was easier because I could flit around. The costumes this year were amazing, and as usual, the vibe was amazing. It is fantastic to be a part of a celebration of life and living. Regardless of whether you are LGBT or 'straight' it is a celebration of the FREEDOM TO BE YOU.
